About us

Tanzanie Development Foundation (TDF) is a non-governmental organization dedicated to improving the resilience, health, and livelihoods of low-income communities in Tanzania.

We work at the crossroads of environment, health, livelihoods, and youth empowerment, understanding that these areas are deeply connected in everyday life. Our programs bring practical solutions directly to communities, helping them respond to climate challenges,
access essential services, and create sustainable opportunities for the future.

Our Mission

At TDF, our mission is to protect the environment, improve health, strengthen livelihoods, and empower youth, helping communities thrive despite climate challenges, limited resources,
and social barriers.
We focus on addressing critical community needs, including:
– Environmental conservation and climate-smart practices
– Adolescent and reproductive health, maternal and child care
– Gender equality and inclusion
– Skills development and youth-led initiatives
– Sustainable livelihoods and economic resilience
– Community engagement and advocacy for policy change
Through these efforts, we work to reduce vulnerabilities, foster inclusive communities, andcreate lasting opportunities for people and their environment.

Our Vision

We envision empowered, self-sustaining, and climate-resilient communities, where
everyone—especially children, youth, and women—has access to safe water, health services,
education, and livelihood opportunities.
We strive for a healthy, sustainable environment that supports lasting well-being and resilience
for future generations.

Our approach

At TDF, we believe lasting change comes from within the community. That’s why we work closely with local volunteers, youth champions, and community groups to co-design and implement interventions that respond to real needs and challenges.

We combine practical, hands-on activities with training and awareness campaigns to build
skills, knowledge, and confidence in communities. From tree planting and water conservation
to health education and livelihood support, our programs are designed to empower people to
take action themselves.

Key elements of our approach include:

– Community Education: Training volunteers and youth on health, environment,
livelihoods, and climate resilience
– Practical Interventions: Tree planting, water management, climate-smart agriculture,
health outreach, and small-scale income projects
– Integrated Programming: Tackling environmental, health, and economic challenges
together for holistic impact
– Partnerships and Advocacy: Collaborating with organizations, schools, government institutions,
and local leaders to ensure solutions are inclusive, sustainable, and influence policy where
needed
Our approach emphasizes community ownership, practical solutions, and long-term
resilience, so every program creates lasting benefits for people and their environment.
